Big Sweep in Vance County

It is that time of the year again to gear of for the North Carolina Big Sweep! The purpose of this event is to rid our environment of litter by promoting environmental education and coordinating an annual statewide cleanup. Since the founding of the NC Big Sweep in 2002 there have been about 335,000 volunteers who have collected 11 million pounds of trash. Vance County 4-H is asking YOU to be apart of the solution by becoming a volunteer in this year’s North Carolina Big Sweep event.
This year’s event will be scheduled for Saturday, September 20th, 2014 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m.. Our goal is to have 7+ teams of volunteers with an unlimited number allowed to each team. Please sign up your group and come together as we participate in this event. This year’s Big Sweep will coincide with the national day of service and serve as our counties community service project. We will be meeting at Satterwhite Point at Shelter #3.
Last year we made a huge impression with the Big Sweep staff as we increased volunteer and trash pick up numbers from the previous year and I am looking for that same success this year. Below is a link to a google doc where you can register you or your group. This will serve as the official registration form and will keep me alerted on who plans to participate that day. If you have any other questions or trouble with the form please feel free to contact me. We look forward to having you participate in this year’s North Carolina Big Sweep Event.
