Possible Disaster Assistance for Vance/Warren Farmers: Deadline 5pm TODAY, 12/10/2018

— Written By

UPDATE: Both the Vance and Warren offices of N.C. Cooperative Extension are closed today due to inclement weather. However, those with questions about this program may reach Paul McKenzie, Agricultural Extension Agent, at 252-213-6095. Assistance is also available at the NCDA&CS Agriculture Disaster Assistance Hotline (866-645-9403).

The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is overseeing a program that will offer assistance for certain losses associated with Hurricane/Tropical Storm Florence. The program may also cover damage from Hurricane/Tropical Storm Michael. Although crops and livestock raised in Vance and Warren County are not currently eligible for this program (as of December 4, 2018), that could change. Thus, it may be prudent for farmers who don’t currently qualify to go ahead and submit an application. The application must be completed on-line and only takes about 30 minutes to complete. The deadline is December 10, 2018. Program details and the application form are available from NCDA&CS. Anyone who needs assistance with the application may contact the NCDA&CS Agriculture Disaster Assistance Hotline (866-645-9403), or contact the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Vance County office (252-438-8188).
