Are you getting frustrated while gardening in clay soil? Don’t despair, we can suggest repair. Join the Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Vance and Warren Counties for “Ready, Set, Grow: Coping with Clay”. Topics include learning to build a compost bin using yard scraps, utilizing worms for composting then what can be planted in the fall in the improved garden. Warren County Armory Civic Center. 501 US Hwy 158-Bus, East, Warrenton. Registration is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Growing vegetables and specialty crops during the non-traditional growing season can be accomplished by using High Tunnels. According to D. Wayne Rowland, Agricultural and Natural Resources Technician with NC Cooperative Extension, Vance County Center, the Growing  Vegetables & Specialty Crops Using High  Tunnels Meeting has been scheduled for Monday, September 24, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.at the Vance County Regional Farmers Market located at 210 Southpark Drive in  Henderson .If you are a farmer or  gardener wanting to learn about the production of vegetables and specialty crops in high tunnels, and ways to extend the vegetable growing season this meeting will help you reach your season extension goals. During this meeting you will learn which vegetables and specialty crops that grow well in high tunnels, insect and disease control in high tunnels, and nutrient requirements for your high tunnel crops.
